CITY OF OSAKA PRESENTS AT A SILICON VALLEY ENVIRONMENTAL INDUSTRY EVENT
1/22/2010

Our Chicago office promoted the City of Osaka at the SD Forum event on the 12th of January, 2010. SD Forum is a not for profit membership organization in California, closely tied with the City of San Jose, that has been created to foster innovation and entrepreneurship in the Silicon Valley region.

This event was this office’s second public appearance in the Silicon Valley, the region that is known to attract new businesses from all over the world. At this third annual event, called “The State of Clean Energy: Global Challenges and Opportunities,” the sessions were divided roughly into three parts. The private industry, government and academic professionals each presented their perspectives on the priorities, the practicalities, and solutions to the issues of global warming and clean energy.

For the government panel, the City of Osaka advisor Patrick Bray presented on behalf of Osaka, introducing Osaka’s clean industry concentration and boom that is happening in the “Green Bay” area.

Although the sense was that the U.S. is still primarily focused on domestic issues, and that outward interest in Japan and Osaka needs some time to mature, the business market is in its growth spurt and there seems to be much potential for the U.S. and Japan to work together in the future.
