REKISHI KAIDO: TAKE A VIRTUAL TOUR OF KANSAI’S WORLD HERITAGE SITES
5/26/2010
The Rekishi Kaido Promotional Council, sponsored by local governments and corporations in the Kansai region, is offering recommended routes for touring around Kansai’s historical and cultural sites, including five World Heritage sites and two World Heritage nominees. The recommended routes are introduced via the Rekishi Kaido website and other media.
The website (in Japanese and English) offers 33 recommended tour routes to Kansai’s World Heritage sites and other sightseeing spots around the sites. Each tour route can be toured in half a day or a day. The website also offers 31 two-minute videos introducing seasonal beauties of Kansai’s historical and cultural sites. The videos were created by editing of the TV program “Rekishi-Kaido,” broadcast by Asahi Broadcasting Corporation. Japanese, English, Korean and Chinese versions are available.
Moreover, the council has produced and is distributing a pamphlet (in four languages) (photo) that offers a recommended route to tour around Kansai’s World Heritage sites in six days and five nights. The tour route starts from/ends at the Kansai International Airport and tours the World Heritage sites in historical order, from ancient times to the Edo Period. The pamphlet also introduces accommodations.
