WAS THE PERFORMANCE SOLD OUT? CHECK OUT "TODAY'S TICKET CENTER" AS YOU MAY STILL HAVE A CHANCE
5/12/2010
Kippo News from Wednesday, April 21, 2010
On March 5, TODAY’S TICKET CENTER (TTC) opened in Dotonbori in the Minami area of Osaka. The TTC is the first discount ticket booth in Japan specializing in day-of-show tickets to plays, concerts and other events. The TTC was modeled on the New York-based
TKTS ticket booths
, which offer discount day-of-show tickets to Broadway shows. The TTC is operated by Incorporated NPO Live Entertainment Promotion Association, whose sponsors include the Kansai Bureau of Economy, Trade and Industry.
The TTC offers tickets to various events held in the Kansai region, including theater, variety entertainment, comedy, traditional performing arts (Noh, Bunraku, kabuki, etc.), musicals and concerts. The tickets sold by the TTC are exchange tickets. They must be exchanged for actual day-of-show tickets at respective event venues. At the TTC, customers can use a computerized system to check event information and ticket availability before purchasing the tickets they want.
Through the trial run conducted through the end of May, the operator will identify any problems of this service and make improvements. Full-fledged operation will start in June. Installation of a TTC ticket booth is also planned in Umeda, Osaka.
The TTC can attract tourists and prospective fans of various performing arts. Accordingly, it is expected to help stimulate the Kansai region by creating momentum for promoting culture and tourism in the region.
