  • Sunday, July 11th, 2010 11:00 - 17:00 (Reception will be close at 16:30)  Free information and counseling services will be offered to foreign residents at International House, Osaka to help with difficulties experienced in everyday life, and advice on how to live comfortably in Osaka. Specialist advice will be available regarding many common difficulties experienced by foreign residents. Volunteers will provide interpretation in 9 languages. LINK

  • Sewerage Science Museum is where the general public can learn first hand about the workings of the sewer system in Osaka. Link .  The Public Works Bureau has information on their English site that explains how the sewer system in Osaka works among other public works related systems LINK  In Japanese, the sewer section publishes an extensive brochure every year for the public.   • On July 3rd and 7th, the Osaka Castle, Tanabata Festival  (Japanese Only) will take place. Tanabata is a Japanese star festival, derived from the Chinese star festival, Qi Xi (七夕 "The Night of Sevens"). It celebrates the meeting of Orihime (Vega) and Hikoboshi (Altair). The Milky Way, a river made from stars that crosses the sky, separates these lovers, and they are allowed to meet only once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month of the lunisolar calendar.   • The light down Campaign is a collaborative effort by Osaka businesses and the public that encourages the community to save energy. Neon signs, show window and office interior, between 8pm and 10pm on the 21st of June and 7th of July will be turned off to create awareness of the unnecessary amount of usual consumption.   • There are now electronic vehicle charging stations ready for use at public parking facilities in Osaka. More high speed charging stations are being installed for future use as well.  LINK  (Japanese only)
